In this artwork, Ricky Swallow showed his wonderful carve skill again. The material is a block of wood. Through the detail carving, the wooden cactus is made. Except the colour, the shape of cactus was caought by Swallow accurately so that you could feel that the sculpture is nature. Moreover, Swallow used his sophisticated carving skill to show the textures of the cactus and vase. You can see the surface of vase is really smooth. On the other hand, the rough surface of cactus is shown. Comparing to the Piccinini's sculpture, Swallow's one could give you a totally different feeling. In Swallow's one, although the wood is made as a highly realistic cactus, it only gives you the dead feeling.
